Determines Everything

Yes… Perception determines everything. Almost 90% of the marketing team works with the faith of glamour or let’s go one more step ahead; the hot look of a star makes your product look better in an ad. Ha Ha… still consider the ad of Mixy ad done with an approximately 65 years old lady… PREETHI. They have seen the ad story with different perceptions and succeeded. Of course, the audience also takes it with a different perception.

Where this perception arises from? The answers are different. Might be related to the way they were brought up, their demography, culture, job, parents, habits like reading the same joiner of books, environment, friends, mass media and social media used by them, etc., Still it also depends on one important factor, individual character. The above-listed parameters are external but the character is internal and it cannot be changed from time to time.

But the internal character cannot be exhibited by all. Very few will exhibit it as it is. Others will hide in front of society but internally they will be different. So the major factor which determines the perception will be the media. Media will influence many people and change their perception of a product. Sometimes the ad which is taken with Amitabh and Sachin will be a trusted product among customers. Since they have the perception of Amitabh and Sachin as good people and they won’t support the wrong product or service.

For a product the media’s perception which means the person who is creating the artwork behind the screen plays a major role. For example, a soap ad can be done with a small girl and mom along with a message like Hamam and it can also be taken in a luxurious hotel bathtub including interior works along with a Bollywood star in a glamorous dress like Lux… Sometimes not much just an old lady and granddaughter with an advising script like Medimix.

Let’s go to some other sector, Bikes. Two-wheelers are mostly related to men (this is also a perception :P). Then why we are having girls in these ads. They are thinking this will attract more people. But the reality is different from the perception. Even the most famous bikes are never done ad or done with only boys. If they have females in the ad that might be riders, not the pillion. The perception of society and ad makers are 95% like girls are not able to ride so they love the boys riding the bikes…

Now will go to another sector – Individual talent… where our meme creators are recreating every emotional, comedy, and heartfelt moment into a laughing therapy. Their perception is real, related to individual character not influenced by external factors. Reality..but liked by many people and it suits many of their own situations.

Society’s perception – the collection of many individuals staying in the same demographic and 90% having the same thought process. The problem is raised when they argue that it is correct. The reality is not the same. There is no right or wrong. If you ask someone who was killed and caught red-handed by police. He will give the answer like either he did it for his own vengeance or for money. Both are right and need from his perception.

I couldn’t finish this blog without this. One of my friends during UG time told me that “You try to see the problem as an outsider then you won’t get tensed, else take it in this way after 6 months if you think about this situation you will definitely laugh”. Because am personally get tensed easier for small mistakes. But when I realized his words after 5 years I understood, Yes it’s the only perception. Try to think about the problems from different perceptions and you will definitely end up with the proper solutions.
